About Us

Central Bedfordshire is an ambitious authority, determined to be an exemplary one. Our strategic location and high quality of life mean we are one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

As a council we face the same challenges every business does - investing in the right places and delivering great results. Except for us, it’s all about our 289,000 residents. We’re totally focussed on helping to improve their lives and making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.

This is a great time to join us on our journey.

More about the role:

Help young people achieve their full potential by supporting them as they make the transition from being in care to independent living. Our work supports young people, who have experienced significant disruption and often trauma in their early lives and adolescence, to have the opportunity to prepare themselves for independence and their adult lives, and to remain in touch with them beyond this. This is the final part of the young person’s journey with social care and is significantly important in their transition in to adult lives and adult services where appropriate.

Our Personal Advisors deliver a front line service and safeguard some of the most vulnerable young adults in Central Bedfordshire.

As a Personal Advisor you will be highly motivated to finding your own greatness through the extensive training and development offered in order to provide an outstanding service to young people who are Leaving Care. You will be working with young people aged between 16 and 25, undertaking needs assessments, and creating Pathway Plans with them to support their needs so that aims and aspirations are met.

You will be able to effectively manage a caseload to ensure that all departmental and statutory procedures and requirements are met. You will maintain accurate and appropriate records on all work undertaken in accordance with the departmental procedures. As part of the Leaving Care team you will participate in the team duty rota so that enquiries can be dealt with promptly.

In summary the statutory functions and requirements include:

  • Ensuring Care Experienced Young People (CEYP) are safeguarded and supported through plans for accommodation and EET.
  • Undertaking statutory requirements for Looked After Children and CEYP.
  • Using relevant Assessment Frameworks to undertake assessments of young people’s needs.
  • Ensuring regular review and monitoring.
  • Implementing Care and Pathway Plans and appropriate interventions for CEYP.
  • Participating in reviews.
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies, delivering a multi-agency integrated service to CEYP.
  • Ensuring that asylum seeking young people have good quality legal representation to help them with asylum applications and that they maintain contact with the immigration authorities.

Join us, and take advantage of a generous rewards package, flexible working and the chance to learn and progress. Find your greatness by helping us to deliver better services to the local community.

What we can offer you

As well as joining a friendly, dedicated, and hardworking team you will have access to numerous benefits, including:
