Information Governance & Data Protection Specialist

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to lead information governance and data management within the council.  The ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly and to deadlines, demonstrating excellent time management skills.

You will work independently on complex information enquiries and requests with the support of the Democratic Services Senior Specialist. Liaise with officers at every level of the council and be the go-to person for all things related to information governance and data protection.

You will work alongside the Data Protection Officer for the council, measuring data risk through impact assessments, assessing, and reporting data breaches and contributing to how the whole council upholds the obligations of the relevant law.

You will be responsible for providing regular specialist support and guidance to Information Governance Case Officers dealing with first tier enquiries, enabling the effective control of information governance and data protection matters.  You will understand how to approach resolving complex queries alongside maintaining audit trails and cases to support the reporting of key performance indicators and statistics to members.

You will have excellent IT skills that accompany an excellent writing ability. A willingness to seek continual improvement is part of working at Folkestone & Hythe District Council.
