Markets Assistant (Fixed term 12 month contract)

Post No: 42895

Salary: Starting from £7,183 to £7,775 per annum

Grade: Grade 3

Hours: 13 hours per week

Place of work: Worthing Town Hall and sites across Adur & Worthing

Closing date: 11th October 2022

Duties of the post:

Due to the continued success of Adur Street Markets we’re looking for a dedicated Markets Assistant to join our team. Supporting the Markets Officer, you’ll be a key staff member in the delivery of our weekly Saturday markets.

In addition to setting up the market stalls, liaising with traders and assisting customers, you’ll also be asked to assist in keeping our bus poster and banner sites up to date.

The role of Markets Assistant is a physically demanding post, working outdoors and includes mainly weekend markets. You will also be required to drive the Markets van, including the towing of a trailer (any additional training for towing will be provided) so you will need a full current driving licence.

Adur street markets provide a vibrant working environment and as a member of the Place & Economy Service you’ll be well supported as a valued member of our team.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Lauren West, Events Manager, lauren.west@adur-worthing.gov.uk for more information.

Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees.  This includes:

Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 25 days + Bank Holiday entitlement

Local Government Pension

Training & development

Occupational Health

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Flexible working options

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
