About the Role

We are looking for a full time permanent member of staff to work in the West District of Parks and Countryside Section as a Grounds Maintenance Operative/Tractor Driver, based on a 36 hour week, working annualised hours of 40 hours per week during the Summer period, and 27 hours per week in the Winter period.

We are looking for a Tractor Driver to help provide an excellent service for local people.  You will help implement the Wirral Parks Standard, which will involve working with staff, Friends Groups, service-users and external organisations.

About the candidate

You are required to have experience in the use of large agricultural/horticultural tractors, and a range of implements including trailed grass-cutting units (cylinder and rotary); flail mowers; conservators; chain harrows; front-loaders, and trailers for the use of general haulage.  Duties will include the mowing of large grass areas including sports pitches; surface maintenance operations including the use of rollers and spikers etc.

You will join the grounds maintenance team based at Arrowe Park, but will undertake tractor driving duties across the whole of the West District and, if required, across Wirral.

A full current driving licence is required to carry out this role.

As well as being able to carry out a full range of tractor driving activities and use of appropriate implements, it would be desirable if you were skilled in at least one of the following:

Arboriculture (including the use of chippers)

PA1/PA2 Pesticide Certificate

Trailer licence
