Landscape Design Manager

Thamesmead’s Landscape & Placemaking team are leading on the implementation of our ambitious green infrastructure strategy, Living in the Landscape through a series of ambitious capital projects, supported by our public facing Making Space for Nature programme. Co-production is central to how we work ensuring that we deliver projects that are wanted, needed and create positive impact for Thamesmead and its community.

The person holding this position will act as client lead for the design and management of a number of landscape led capital projects. These will vary in scale from small doorstep public realm projects to town wide initiatives but all involving co-design and co-production processes.

About you:

You will be:

• Committed to co-production methods, seeking to transfer decision making to Thamesmead residents.
• A good communicator, with strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to adapt to different situations, in order to develop productive relationships and effective partnerships.
• Able to work on your own initiative and prioritise and organise workload.
• A creative problem solver, with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently.
• Able to generate creative ideas and turn them into reality using well developed project management skills.
• Able to manage others, including the appointment, briefing and managing of professionals.
• Able to write high quality reports, create and monitor complex budgets, schedules and contracts for the programme, and be able to demonstrate that you can work to tight and sometimes changing deadlines.

You will have:
• Proven landscape architecture / design skills and delivery experience.
• Proven project management experience.
• Proven stakeholder management and management of multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven design and information programme management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong design skills.
• Strong knowledge of CDM and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and technology.
• Strong knowledge of planning process, techniques, procurement and value creation.
• Good knowledge of contracts and contract documentation.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Good risk management skills.
• Reasonable understanding of the Housing Association sector.
• Professional qualifications are not essential however landscape architecture qualifications and CMLI are desirable.
