The Culture and Creative Industries Unit works to support London’s creative and night-time sector, particularly in recovery from the impacts of COVID-19, maintain London’s leading position as a city of culture and increase Londoner’s access to and participation in culture.

This is an important role leading policy development and support on behalf of the Culture and Creative Industries Unit for priority areas of the Mayor’s Cultural Strategy and recovery programmes. This role will contribute to shaping the Unit’s research work and be instrumental in building the case for culture through lobbying and advocacy.
The postholder will support the Principal Cultural Policy Officer to deliver strategy and policy, and to co-ordinate policy around recovery. This is an opportunity to develop relationships with external stakeholders such as Non-Departmental Public Bodies, universities, research organisations and Government in order to help the GLA respond quickly and effectively to the external policy environment. The post will involve a significant amount of briefing in a fast-paced environment, and often to short deadlines.
The role will help the Unit make the best use of external data, research and statistics, supporting the Senior Cultural Policy Officer to provide effective advice on external consultations and draft responses where appropriate; and undertake research, including with internal and external stakeholders.

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
