Sessional Childcare Officer

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring people to join our team, to support children who receive short breaks at Bridges Resource Centre and Saturday Club.  We provide high quality care and support for children with additional and complex needs. 

You will ideally:
- be experienced and / or have passion and commitment to work with children with additional and complex needs

- be interested in learning about different communication or behavioural needs

- enjoy play activities and be willing to get involved and have fun alongside the children

- be a good role model, supporting children to learn and achieve

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the Children's lives. We offer a full training programme as part of your induction with ongoing training, support and supervision.

About the role
As a sessional worker you will be a key part of the team helping to keep children safe and to fulfil and achieve their potential through:

- supporting children to communicate their needs and wishes using a range of communication skills, tools and assistive technology, i.e. Makaton, PECS, Eyegaze

- supporting them with fun activities which may take place at Bridges, Saturday Club or trips out in the community to parks, bowling, beach, wildlife parks etc

- promoting independence with life skills i.e., mealtimes, personal care and road safety

- encouraging children to develop social skills to make new friends and build positive safe relationships with adults

The hours are flexible and can be tailored to fit around other commitments.
