Planning Policy Manager

“Shaping the borough, making a difference”

Placemaking is fundamental to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.  The Planning Policy Manager role is central to this, leading the production of the new Local Plan 2020-2038, a Town Centre Area Plan for Royal Tunbridge Wells and subsequently the first Local Plan following the expected changes to the national planning system.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about placemaking and has the relevant planning experience, skills and knowledge. You will have the leadership and management skills required to support and develop a dynamic, collaborative and dedicated Planning Service. We want someone who can take forward planning policy in an “open for business” Council within the attractive and varied townscapes and environments of the borough.

The Job Description and Personal Specification provide more information about the role. However, for an informal chat about the opportunity, please get in contact with Carlos Hone, Head of Planning by email: carlos.hone@tunbridgewells.gov.uk.

Please note this is a politically restricted post.

Additional benefits for this post include 32 days annual leave (increasing to 35 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service), plus an additional day in December.  Membership of the Local Government (CARE – Career Average (Revalued Earnings) Pension Scheme, as well as invaluable training opportunities for continuing professional development.
