This is a great time to join us on our journey.

More about the role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our School Improvement team to join us as a SEND Advisory Teacher.

A SEND Advisor is a demanding role supporting schools and council officers.  As an advisory teacher you will:

  • Work with schools to secure an outstanding understanding the statutory processes.
  • Visit schools to develop alongside SENCO’s strategies to support young people
  • Provide impartial advice in respect of specific cases and more general practice

You will also work with other CBC officers to:

  • Establish regular meetings and training.
  • Encourage the sharing of good practice.
  • Support the statutory SEND Team and the statutory process.

To join us, you’ll need a background gained in a school or a local authority setting. It is important that your experience includes time spent as a SENCO or similar – and that you have a proven record of both working with children with a Special Educational Needs as well as working successfully alongside parents and education professionals.

You will need to be able to inspire others, build strong and productive relationships and have a strong specialist knowledge in respect of SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.

Join us, and you’ll enjoy attractive benefits plus the chance to learn and progress. Even better, you’ll find your greatness as you help children to achieve and progress.

What we can offer you

As well as joining a friendly, dedicated, and hardworking team you will have access to numerous benefits, including:

  • Hybrid working arrangements as appropriate. We recognise the importance of supporting our employees to balance their home and work life and to be able to work in the most efficient way. As a hybrid worker you will be able to work from home with access to any CBC location.
  • A £250 one off hybrid worker payment, helping you achieve a safe and suitable work space at home
  • Support to work from abroad for up to a month a year where appropriate
  • Generous family friendly policies and practices
  • A supportive and inclusive environment that values and celebrates differences
  • Staff network and support groups
