Service Manager - Family Safeguarding

The Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding (HFS) model of practice is an innovative child protection model developed in Hertfordshire, effective in keeping more children safely within their families and helping parents to achieve lasting change. Independently evaluated and referenced in both the recent Care Review and National Safeguarding Panel Review : our model of practice is acknowledged as a leading example of how child protection work can be effective in making positive changes to the outcomes for children and families.  With a multidisciplinary teams approach, using motivational interviewing, we take a holistic view to the help and support required by a family to improve the lives of children and young people,  working with families to address the challenges they are experiencing. We aim to motivate and support them to identify for themselves the changes needed to keep their children safe from harm. The overall aim is to bring about long term change within families which is driven by the parents themselves and is therefore likely to be more sustainable.

We are a service motivated by and dedicated to continuously improving social work practice. We aim to support individuals to be an influential and active member of their community by promoting true citizenship. We want our Service Managers to be resilient and robust as well as imaginative and reflective with the ability to coach and mentor others to become our leaders of tomorrow.

You will join an experienced and supportive leadership team who are forward thinking and know what good looks like. Applicants for this post will need a professional Social Work qualification and be Social Work England registered. Successful candidates will have worked in a similar setting previously and have experience of staff supervision and management. You will have the ability to develop and sustain partnerships across teams and be an effective advocate for the Council. Strategic thinking and project management are key to this role. You will have experience of budget forecasting and analysing financial information.

The successful candidate may be required to attend meetings across the  county on a frequent basis. Therefore, you will need to have a full UK driving licence.

Within our Ways of Working, a flexible hybrid approach can be taken but there is the requirement of office attendance once or twice per week and then as required.
