The Occupational Therapy and Sensory Service is committed to integrated working across health and social care and we go the extra mile for our residents, seeking to achieve the very best outcomes for our residents supporting them to achieve their full potential and fulfil their aspirations. By participating in the neighbourhood programme, we are committed to an ethos of co-production to achieve Hackney’s vision for all our residents, whatever their background, to maximise their independence and live safely in their homes.

We have an exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to join our busy Occupational Therapy and Sensory service as a lead senior practitioner in our duty work. This is a newly created post and involves working alongside Hackney’s Customer Service and Duty and Access Team to screen referrals, provide information and advice at the earliest point of contact and address needs that can be resolved through short term intervention.

This is a supervisory role and the post holder will be expected to provide leadership, team development and professional expertise, skills and advice to occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants to ensure high quality services are delivered. As a senior practitioner, you may be required to deputise for the team manager.

About you:

If you are an experienced occupational therapist with sound analytical and reflective skills, dedicated to improving practice and able to produce work to a very high standard, then we want to hear from you. You will be required to apply specialist knowledge and skills to provide early intervention and triage referrals to the service. You will need sound knowledge of social care and the integration agenda and have the confidence to make key and often creative decisions working within relevant legislation, policies and best practice guidance. You will be working alongside social workers and housing and health teams to provide strength-based interventions.

Requirements:

You should be highly organised and innovative, with strong professional occupational therapy skills. You will need to have a sound knowledge of social care, health care, and transformation agendas. A degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
