What it's like working in our team…
The team aims to improve the life chances of the borough's most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people and adults, by providing careers education, support and guidance, which:
- Encourages self-belief, raises aspirations, and widens participation
- Increases knowledge of the range of careers available
- Explores the alternative qualifications and progression routes available that lead towards their SMART goals
- Enables informed decision-making about their future options
The service consists of a multi-disciplinary team that works with young people and adults, schools, colleges, businesses, universities, social workers, PAs and foster carers to support young people and adults to identify a pathway to EET.
You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…
- To take the lead in relation to gathering and collating information and data and providing reports for relevant management groups in respect of the Local Authority's NEET cohort (16-17), including the September Guarantee and Annual Activity Survey for the DfE.
- Working with young people and adults aged 13-21 (25 for those with an EHCP), providing impartial advice and guidance in relation to employment, training, and educational opportunities, and supporting them to reach their aspirational career goals.
- To ensure that the IYSS is continually updated and all work is monitored.
- To support Children Looked After from Year 9 to the end of Year 13 to raise aspirations, make decisions and plan for their future career path.
- To work collaboratively with the Virtual School, Leaving Care Service, Youth Offending Service and SEN Team to support young people and adults aged 17-21 (25 for those with an EHCP) into EET - identifying skills gaps and barriers, raising awareness of the range of opportunities available and drawing up action plans for employment, education and training to achieve goals.

What we're looking for…
To be considered for this role, you must be qualified to Level 6 in Advice and Guidance or working towards this. You will have experience of working with young people and adults who are NEET or at risk of NEET and have substantial knowledge of the 14-16; Post-16; and Post-18 learning and skills environment and the range of pathways available as well as the current labour market. You will need to demonstrate experience in your ability to support vulnerable young people and adults through transitions and to understand and develop the appropriate skills to ultimately gain employment.
Experience of working with Children Looked After, Care Leavers and young people/adults with Education, Health and Care Plans would be beneficial for this role.
