Brighter Futures for Children’s IFA is improving outcomes for children, young people, their families by offering a fostering service of a high standard. 


We are part of an independent, not-for-profit-company, wholly owned by Reading Borough Council. Our responsibility is to deliver quality children's services, early help, education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services to children and families in Reading.  
About the role 

We have this exciting opportunity for you to join and support our foster carers in carrying out their fostering tasks and responsibilities towards children looked after.  

Key responsibilities will be: 

  • Child minding and babysitting children and young people living with foster carers 
  • Transporting children looked after to and from school, contact and other relevant appointments in line with the child/ren’s care plan 
  • Joining in activities with the child/ren looked after and/or the fostering household 
  • As required attend meetings to support foster carers, social workers, children and other agencies 
  • Any other supportive tasks as requested by the fostering service e.g health and safety checks at fostering households, day trips  
  • Safeguarding Children looked after  


Experience and knowledge required: 

  • Experience of working with and/ or supporting children and families and/or vulnerable adults, either professionally or personally or both. 
  • To understand the use of IT and electronic communications  
  • An appreciation of the effect of separation and loss on children
