Future Benefits Assistant Officer

The starting salary for this position is £26,080 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We're less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we'd welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.

The Surrey Pension Team are starting a new chapter with a refreshed vision and mission and ambitious plans for the future:

Our vision: To provide our customers with a better tomorrow
Our mission: To responsibly deliver a first-class customer experience

Our newly redesigned workforce is integral to achieving our aims and ambitions for the future and we are looking for a Future Benefits Assistant Officer to join our Service Delivery Team.

Reporting directly to the Future Benefits Manager you will predominantly undertake operational work with specific responsibility for Future Benefits which includes:

  • Calculating early leaver benefits (deferred, transfers in and out, aggregation and refunds of contributions)
  • Checking and actioning diary reports
  • Making payments using automated payments system

Your ability to demonstrate our Vision and Mission and work within a "one pensions team" culture is crucial to our success. Taking a holistic "one pensions team" approach will drive opportunities for all staff to increase their career opportunities by broadening experience across the whole of the Pension service.

To be shortlisted for interview for this position, your CV and personal statement should clearly evidence the following:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the administration of defined benefit pension schemes. Experience in the Local Government Pension Scheme would be helpful.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manipulate and reconcile financial data
  • I.T proficiency particularly Excel.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.

Additional Information

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 29.09.2022 with interviews to follow.

You will be able to work remotely in this role meaning you don't have to live locally to be successful.

Benefits

From flexible working to job sharing (where possible) we are committed to providing a healthy work life balance. A laptop and mobile will be supplied if applicable to your role. You will benefit from 26 days annual leave, rising to 28 days after 2 years' service, a generous local government salary related pension, as well as the option to join our car lease scheme.
