Salary: £34,629 - £37,782 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week

Base Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Thorn Turn Depot. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role 

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

More about the role:

Find your greatness with Central Bedfordshire Council’s Highways Agreements Team. You will work closely with developers and contractors throughout Central Bedfordshire to inspect S278 and S38 highway improvement works for new developments delivering the Council's growth agenda. Working with colleagues, developers and contractors to inspect works and ensure they are undertaken in accordance with approved detailed designs and current standards including the Council’s Highway Construction Standards and Specification Guidance. You will have a broad knowledge of the construction industry covering materials and construction methods and practices.

Site inspections are a key part of this role which requires liaising closely with Contractors/Developers and the Highway Agreement Officers, offering advice and support and implementing decisions and maintaining up to date, digital records. You will be required to apply your good level of knowledge on highways construction and maintenance to support and monitor the delivery of new schemes, structures, drainage and highways/carriageway improvements, and footway resurfacing according to specifications and road adoption standards.


An engineering qualification is desirable for this role - this may be a civil engineering qualification or construction management or similar. You will preferably be a Member of the ICWCI.
