Senior Construction Project Manager

Team:  Capital Construction Service (Assets)

Salary:  £44,735 - £48,659 per annum  pro rata (+ Market Rate Supplement of up to £6,000)

Job Family: Providing 13(M)

Hours: 37 per week

Location:  Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role 

Contract:  Hybrid - Permanent

More about the roles: 

The Capital Construction Service has been established to bring under one remit all of the Council’s major construction activities including residential, commercial, health and social care, agricultural and educational buildings.  Staff in the service work on an exceptional variety of construction projects within south/central Bedfordshire. Projects can include extending or modifying existing properties as well as constructing new ones and will range in value up to £55M with no two jobs the same. 

 

We are looking for experienced, talented and personable Senior Construction Project Managers to join our team.  You will engage with Clients and Stakeholders to draw out the project requirements, defining the brief, setting up the project from its inception and carrying it through to completion.  Knowledge of design and construction is required in order to manage the work streams and procedures that form part of capital projects.  Site experience is great, but it’s the experience of working with clients from the very beginning that you will bring to the role and will add real value to our projects. If you have previously worked as an Employers Agent then we would love to hear from you too. As part of your role you will line manage a team of Construction Project Managers and Project Officers.

 

You will have experience of Change Control, Project Programming and Risk Registers.  It is essential that all projects are delivered in accordance with legislation and regulations, and you will have the knowledge and skills to enable this.  Financially and commercially astute you will be responsible for project budgets, including monitoring, forecasting project spend, decision making and financial reporting.

 

A highly organised individual you will possess excellent communication skills which will allow you to build important relationships with the project teams and also contractors.  Your confidence and personal skills will allow you to fit comfortably into the role and deliver an excellent service to our colleagues and clients.  Find your greatness and join us to help deliver better buildings for the residents of Central Bedfordshire.

 

A driving licence and access to a vehicle is a requirementClient-side experience from Project Start-Up is required, and a high-level knowledge of design and construction using RIBA stages is invaluable. You should be used to providing presentations to Senior Managers at Director level and leading projects to successful completion at an individual project value above £10M.
