Safeguarding Children in Education Officer

Following the promotion of our previous post-holder, Halton Borough Council is looking for a dynamic and passionate individual, who has extensive leadership experience in implementing highly effective safeguarding practices within an education setting, to become our new Safeguarding Children in Education Officer.

The successful candidate will offer guidance and support to schools across Halton in all aspects of safeguarding; from strengthening the quality of referrals to iCART and representing education within multi-agency meetings through the safeguarding partnership, through to training new DSLs, upskilling governors, delivering safer recruitment training and visiting schools to complete safeguarding health-checks.  Every day is guaranteed to be different to the last, fast paced, and incredibly rewarding!

 

 You will: 

  • Be able to develop and sustain effective working relationships and partnerships within a multi-agency context, whilst providing constructive and effective support and challenge to a range of education professionals. 
  • Have a detailed understanding of what effective safeguarding practice is and be able to demonstrate a broad evidence base for improving outcomes and keeping vulnerable children safe. 
  • Have knowledge of the current legislation and statutory guidance that applies to schools and education providers and be able to proactively support and challenge them in effectively discharging their safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Be willing to deliver training to a group of professionals

 

The role will involve regular travel across the borough and sometimes further afield. Therefore, the post holder must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle. Where necessary, reasonable adjustments will be made in accordance with the Equality Act.
