We are seeking an experienced and versatile lawyer and leader for the role of Assistant Chief Legal Officer with overall responsibility for Property and Environment Divisions. The post holder will also deputise for the Director of Law & Governance in their absence. As an Assistant Chief you will be taking the lead at an exciting time for the council’s Property and Environment team as they consolidate their well-regarded in-house service and further develop the its offering to other councils.

The successful Assistant Chief will need to shape the development of the teams within this section which comprises the Property and Environment Teams, contributing to the overall strategic management and development of the delivery of high quality, cost effective legal services to the County Council, partner Councils and other clients.

This position will be an outward facing role whereby you will be liaising and speaking with Boroughs and District Councils within Hertfordshire to collaborate with their Property and Environment departments.
