Our economy has the third largest output in the UK with 291,000 employees working for 16,925 businesses.

As our Head of Highways and Transport you will make a key contribution to the future including leading on maintaining our highways infrastructure, ensuring our streets are safe, developing sustainable transport solutions that are truly accessible to all and making a significant contribution to our carbon net zero targets. You will help set the strategic agenda with achievable priorities and infrastructure plans to deliver on our promises. As an enthusiastic, passionate and driven leader you will meet the wide and varied challenges within this service.

We have a strong vision and drive to achieve the best, this will be a challenging but rewarding position at the heart of the council that requires a highly motivated individual used to working in pressurised and political environments at a strategic level. You will have excellent problem solving, communication, diplomacy skills and need to deliver key priorities, working collaboratively with key partners in and out of Tower Hamlets to ensure the best outcomes for the residents, businesses and visitors to the borough.

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough.
