Admin Support Officer

Job Title: Admin Support Officer
Location: Watford Three Rivers Hertsmere
Starting Salary: £21,189 progressing to a maximum of £22,369 (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: 18.5 up to 37 per week (including some evening support)
Contract: Permanent

Job Duties:

HCC Services for Young People’s purpose is to enable young people to succeed through the delivery of targeted prevention and early intervention to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. This post provides business and administrative support to the SfYP Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Support Officer to work as part of a team. This is an interesting and varied role, and you will be expected to provide a full range of reception/ front of house, administrative and general office duties to support the full offer to young people. Good customer service, IT, verbal and written communication skills are essential. The post holder will ideally be proficient in the use of social media, including Twitter and Instagram to promote the work of Services for Young People. The role requires a level of confidentiality, patience and accuracy

Examples of types of work you may be involved in are:

-Updating and managing databases and spreadsheets, provide reports and assist in compiling information such as statutory returns and manage and track expenditure

-Providing professional support to Senior Support Officer and Managers dealing with confidential and sensitive matters, answer telephone calls and provide information as a first point of contact at Young People’s Centres

-Undertaking a range of administrative duties such as note and minute taking, filing, scanning and photocopying and deal with all general matters including cash handling, correspondence, invoices and timesheets according to local procedures

-Manage calendars avoiding scheduling conflicts


Further Information


You will need to be organised, able to use your own initiative and prioritise your workload, be confident working in young people’s centres and being the first point of contact for those using the centre. Good communication skills are essential, as is an approachable and friendly manner and the ability to talk to young people and other members of the public.  Flexibility and the ability travel across the area as required.

This role involves working within and supporting a team of practitioners, and often being the first face or voice a young person see’s or hears before they access our service, which is incredibly rewarding.
