We are looking for a part time Housing Options/Allocations Officer to become a member of our small team focusing on homelessness prevention and the allocation of social housing within the District of Uttlesford.
Your role will include processing and assessing applications for the Housing Register and, when required, providing advice and assistance to applicants. You will provide housing need/nomination information to colleagues and partners, and you will also provide general, confidential and sensitive housing advice to customers who contact the council. Ideally you will have experience in a housing role within a local authority and knowledge of Choice Based Lettings schemes.
We are looking for a candidate that has excellent administration and IT skills with a positive, approachable and patient attitude. You should be highly organised and be able to work to strict deadlines and on your own initiative. The ability to understand and apply relevant housing legislation is also an important part of this role, however people with excellent transferable skills will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate social awareness of the issues likely to be faced by households in housing need.
