The newly established Insight, Strategy & Inclusion team is focussed on supporting the council to be as inclusive as possible, to work strategically and make good evidence-based decisions.
We are recruiting to take forward our strategy work.
You will join the small, busy and dedicated team as the Policy & Strategy Officer, working closely with colleagues, in Insight, Strategy & Inclusion, and across the council to support alignment of our strategies to our priorities. You will be using your strategic thinking and communication skills to inform and shape the development of key corporate strategies. A central part of the role is to provide horizon scanning, create policy digests and briefings, and support the design and implementation of impactful policies and strategies that go beyond the ‘written word’ to create positive impacts across our borough.
With a policy or strategy background, you will be keen to step into this broad and visible role. Whether you are operating already within the corporate centre or are coming to this from a team delivering services directly to the public you will demonstrate an ability to think, act and work across a complex organisation.
We are looking for is someone who: has strong communication skills; can research, collate, summarise and present information for a range of audiences; has the ability to work across departmental and professional boundaries; can support development of compelling strategies to improve our services; and who is comfortable working within a political context of local government.
