This is a great time to join us on our journey.

About the role

In Children’s Services, we’re determined to safeguard and protect vulnerable children and achieve great outcomes. Our Fostering team recruit, assess and support prospective foster carers, including family and friends carers,  to provide different placement types (respite, short term, long term, intensive support) for children who require foster care.

It’s all about creating better outcomes and a bright new generation for our community. Help children to thrive by supporting foster carers and family and friends carers, and you could find your greatness. Being a Social Work Assistant in the fostering service is an important and rewarding role. Successful candidates will be part of a team of social workers who recruit, assess, train and supervise foster carers. The role supports our vision of providing the best possible outcomes for our children by recruiting high quality supportive foster carers. You will work in partnership with schools, health colleagues and other local partners to provide the best possible services within a highly regulated and confidential service.

We are looking for a social work assistant with excellent communication skills, who is experienced and enthusiastic about working with foster carers, young people and their families.

We are currently undertaking a transformation of our fostering service and this role will offer you a varied opportunity to be a key part of the transformation vision. You will have supportive managers and you will work within a dedicated team of colleagues with extensive fostering knowledge and experience. You will be provided with regular monthly supervision and an annual appraisal to help you grow. Experience of using a wide range of social work techniques to undertake direct work with children and their carers will also be of benefit. Your technical talents should come with a calm, organised approach with good communication skills and you will also need sound IT skills, organisational skills and being capable of professional conduct at all times. Join us, and take advantage of a our rewards package plus the chance to learn, train and progress.

What we can offer you

As well as joining a friendly, dedicated, and hardworking team you will have access to numerous benefits, including:

  • Hybrid working arrangements as appropriate. We recognise the importance of supporting our employees to balance their home and work life and to be able to work in the most efficient way. As a hybrid worker you will be able to work from home with access to any CBC location.
