This is a newly created, temporary post (12 month) based within the Housing Adaptations and Improvements Team.
The challenges of recent years have resulted in an increased number of vulnerable households who require support, advice and/or assistance with regard to improving their housing conditions and lifestyles, to help them remain living safe, well and independent in their homes.
This team provides wide ranging support through a range of assistance measures, such as Disabled Facilities Grants, Loans, and other support to improve home energy efficiency, as well as taking enforcement action when necessary to deal with public health concerns, or poor housing conditions impacting on others e.g. statutory nuisance. We also work to bring empty homes back into use.
We are looking for someone who has exceptional communication skills who can sensitively work with vulnerable people, and who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to customer care and to achieving positive outcomes to improve peoples home environments.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in Environmental Health or Housing and be able to inspect properties and produce appropriate schedules of work. Starting salary will depend on level of experience.
We are happy to consider part time or job share working.
