Team: Young People's Support Team

Job Family: Supporting - CBG11

Salary: £36,554 - £39,707 per annum pro rata + Standard MRS £5,150

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Hybrid - Permanent

Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a weekly basis, and as needed to carry out your role.

In Children’s Services, we aim to give every child excellent care and a promising future. By keeping young people safe and supported, we’re helping to make to Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work for all. As a Senior Practitioner, you’ll be critical to the success of of our adolescent support team. Find your greatness as you help us offer our most vulnerable young people timely, intensive and relationship based support.


In this important and varied role, you will be supporting young people with often complex needs who need support as they navigate through adolescence. Day-to-day, you’ll support the team to assess needs, deliver and plan interventions, offer 1:1 support the team, help manage risk, and lead in group supervision and projects.  You will offer daily support to assist our skilled Intensive Support Workers in the team and have the opportunity to develop your skills to supervise and represent the team at meetings and groups . You will be part of projects in the Young People's Support Team and have opportunities to lead in creating and delivering team learning events. As a Senior Practitioner you will support us to learn through audits and understand our performance indicators so we may learn and grow through creative thinking to meet the needs of the service.


As a Senior Practitioner you will be part of making important and key decisions for the families and young people we work with. You will work with the team to provide effective, first-class care, and your role will be to ensure every young people can grow up safely and reach their full potential in Central Bedfordshire. 


Qualified and HCPC-registered, you’ll be a confident social worker, and have worked in Child Protection and Child in Need, upholding the Code of Ethics. With this background, you will have an understanding of working with young people in need and at risk of harm. You will need to demonstrate you are a  good team player and an equally capable leader. You will be able to talk about complex needs and translate this into practice. With such varied responsibilities you’ll get to learn and experience new challenges that will further support your progression.
