About the role
The Beach House is a service which provides respite and short breaks for adults who have learning disabilities. Our last CQC inspection rated the service as “good”.
You will join a large team of committed staff in providing high level support to those receiving a service at The Beach House. The help you provide will be tailored to each individual’s needs and is designed to help them to maintain as much independence as possible. You will also be required to work closely with the service users family/carers and the Community Learning Disability team.
The support you provide to the residents will involve:
- supporting with intimate personal care where required
- enabling individuals to participate in a range of activities within the wider community such as swimming, trampolining, eating out, bowling, shopping etc.
- help with cooking meals
- assisting with the administration of medication
- completing care records
- using various communication tools to help residents express themselves
- maintaining relationships with family members, carers and friends
- You don’t need any formal qualifications or previous care experience for this role as we will provide you with all the training you will need and an in-depth induction programme, where you will be well supported by your managers and colleagues. However, you will need to:
- have a caring and flexible approach to your work
- have good written and number skills
- have basic ICT skills
- be able to work well as part of a team
- be able to work on your own initiative and think quickly in a difficult situation.
This role is for 28.5 hours per week and you will be required to work a rota pattern that includes some weekends, early, late, sleep in duties and Bank Holidays (including Christmas and New Year on a rota basis. Enhancements are paid for these additional hours.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
