Our nurseries are growing and we have excellent professional development opportunities for enthusiastic and committed EYFS practitioners. Little Learners Nursery group is made up of St Saviour’s Nursery (Ofsted grade outstanding) and St Mary’s Nursery (Ofsted grade good).  We provide a nurturing and safe environment in which children thrive as they learn.  In 2019 we opened ‘Little Learners in Nature’ which is an outdoor provision, based at St Saviour’s, that draws on the principles of forest school. The children spend the day playing and learning outside and have access to ponds, tepees, mud kitchens, hammocks, a fire pit, a stone circle, a willow arch, bug hotels, and a giant den-making zone.  They also get to care for our three resident alpacas!

We are looking to recruit a QTS teaching lead to work in our pre-school. You will be an excellent Early Years practitioner with pre-school experience and Qualified Teacher Status who is looking for an exciting opportunity to help the Nurseries to build. You will:

  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (please note you will be on a nursery contract not under teachers terms and conditions)
  • Work under the direction of the Principal, Manager and Deputy Managers.
  • Lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times.
  • Support the aims and objectives of the nursery and assist the Manager in providing high quality teaching which leads to excellent progress of the children.
  • Provide high standards of care and early learning – to include the monitoring and review of provision, this includes providing a safe, caring environment to enable the personal, emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.
  • Support the team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop
  • Direct and support staff as agreed by the Manager.
  • Have specific training/knowledge of working with babies and children under two years old in order to support their individual needs

Do you have:

  • An appropriate qualification (Qualified Teacher status of level 6+)
  • The ability to lead a classroom of pre-schoolers at a 1:13 ratio
  • The commitment to provide first class childcare
  • The ability to promote good practice in a professional manner
  • Good organisational skills
  • A caring, kind and approachable manner
  • An understanding of how children develop and learn
  • Good English, Mathematics and ICT skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
