Capital Portfolio Assurance Officer
About Waltham Forest
Driven by our sense of the place and community, Waltham Forest continues to grow and prosper. Waltham Forest is London’s first Borough of Culture in 2019 and MJ Council of the Year. Our opportunities are real: Aa new university campus, £300 million new shopping centre, 10,000 new homes over the next ten years, re-invigorating a much-loved 950-seat theatre.
Our Property team is at the helm of many exciting new developments, such as Fellowship Square, home of our newly refurbished Town Hall alongside revitalised public square and fountain and many more across our borough. Our Capital Strategy and Programme Management Office (PMO) sits at the core of everything the service delivers, driven by our Capital Investment Strategy.
The Portfolio Assurance Officer will work in collaboration to support the PMO, Capital Portfolio Assurance Manager and wider Property and Delivery team in monitoring, reporting and assurance of the council’s £640 million investment programme. You will work as part of a successful team to support effective processes and frameworks and enable robust reporting and assurance to senior officer and member boards.
We are looking for a motivated individual with the ability to collate and analyse data, prioritise against competing deadlines, and apply problem solving to complex issues. The capability to work collaboratively and confidently with stakeholders at all levels across the Council will also be key to success. The candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of project/programme management principles and their application in a large investment portfolio.
The post is available on a permanent contract and is offered on a part office and home-based arrangement. We are looking for a dynamic, flexible candidate that is able to work independently and part of a team, has excellent communication skills, and a desire to continue developing yourself and the services we provide.
In return we offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work on one of the most exciting construction and property programmes across London, gaining valuable experience in capital portfolio management and learning about the council’s Total Return on Investment Framework, which monitors the outcome of our investment for local people.
