Liverpool City Council are looking to recruit Educational Psychologists (EP) to join our team of EPs, Assistant EPs and trainees. We welcome applications from qualified Educational Psychologists and trainee Educational Psychologists who are due to qualify in 2023 or September 2025.

Liverpool City Council is a flexible, family friendly authority. Working hours can be managed flexibly between 6am and 10pm. All Educational Psychologists have agile kits that enable them to work remotely in any setting. We will consider requests for part time working and compressed hours.

This is an exciting time to join a team that is highly valued by Senior Managers with increasing opportunities for individuals to further develop areas of interest and expertise. EPs are actively encouraged to contribute strategically to policy development, city wide initiatives and corporate aims. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in a city that is committed to improving the outcomes for children, young people and families.

We offer a supportive peer and senior supervision process and encourage continued professional development, peer mentoring and autonomy in the development of innovative initiatives. In addition to supporting schools and settings, there are opportunities to work in specific areas, including social inclusion, early years, the virtual school, electively home educated, C.M.E., parent forums and underrepresented groups.

This is an opportunity to work in a vibrant, diverse city with colleagues who are committed to facilitating positive change and making a difference!

Our team is seeking individuals who:

  • Are flexible and creative
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Can work as a team but also autonomously
  • Are efficient with good time management skills
  • Have an extensive knowledge of psychology and be motivated to make a difference to local communities!

The salary range is advertised as Soulbury Scale A points 4 to 8 with up to 3 additional SPA points, £44,782 - £52,440. The individual six-point scale will be supplemented by such SPA points, providing the individual with the eligibility to progress to a maximum of points 9, 10 or 11 in each case, this being £54,179, £55,921 or £57,554.

If you would like to talk to a member of the team about the role or have an informal discussion, please contact Kelly Williamson e-mail kelly.williamson@liverpool.gov.uk.
