Are you interested in becoming a Town Planner or a Town Planner who is experienced in dealing with a wide range of pre-application enquiries, complex planning applications, appeals and post application work?  Are you a motivated and well organised worker with a positive outlook who is able to deal with a busy and demanding caseload?

Winchester City Council has exciting career opportunities within its Planning Department to ensure our service remains high quality and efficient. We are seeking enthusiastic Officers to help shape our charming historic towns, villages and countryside.  Our emerging Local Plan is ambitious and we have a number of council led Major Projects for regeneration and place making.

The role of Planning Officer is an ideal opportunity for a trainee planner with a keen interest in the built and rural environments to start a career in planning. You will have some office experience, preferably in planning, and have an understanding of the planning process.

Our offices are based in the heart of Winchester’s Historic Cathedral Town and the successful candidates will benefit from a hybrid working pattern, free parking at any Winchester Park and Ride (during work hours), essential car user allowance, flexible home working and paid Membership fees to the RTPI, along with a range of other benefits including UK Healthcare Health Plan, generous contributory Local Government pension, discounted bus travel and public transport loans, volunteering opportunities, flexible working arrangements, a cycle scheme, and career opportunities working across the department.

If you are interested in working for Winchester City Council please contact Lorna Hutchings – Planning Delivery and Implementation Manager for an informal chat about the role available 01962 848 290.
