Community Project Officer (Homes for Ukraine)

Up to 20 hours per week, with flexibility for the right candidate

18 month fixed term contract (possible extension)

£29,439 - £35,411 Full time equivalent salary

Do you have experience of helping people?  Do you like building relationships for the mutual benefit of residents?  Do you have the dedication and passion to work with people to help them settle in the local area?  If so, you might be just right for this rewarding role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our passionate and hard-working Community & Partnerships team to provide dedicated support to the Homes for Ukraine scheme as well as other initiatives to support refugees in the local area.  You will be working to understand local needs and coordinate support through a variety of local services, agencies and community partners.  You will be required to work closely with residents to provide appropriate information, advice and support with the goal of helpling them settle and live independently.

Because of this we are looking for someone with excellent verbal and written skills in Ukrainian or Russian, and in English too.

The Community & Partnerships team is part of the Assistant Chief Executive’s office and you will also work closely with the council’s coprorate Homes for Ukraine project team.  We have some fantastic community partners in the borough who you’ll need to connect with, as well as working alongside colleagues in the council’s Housing team, and Hamphire County Council’s Homes for Ukraine visiting team.

To help you get established in the role you will initially be based at the council offices in Farnborough.  In time, more flexibility may be appropriate with a blend of office, home and community-based working – you’ll be provided with a laptop to facilitate this.  A full driving licence would be advantageous, although not essential for the role.  You will be able to reclaim any business mileage or reasonable travel costs.

Because of the changing nature of this area of work, the post is for a fixed-term of 18 months with the potential for this to be reviewed and extended.  We want to be flexible for the right candidate so we are looking for someone who can work up to 20 hours per week, within usual business hours.  Some evening or weekend work may be required, but only by prior agreement with you.

As part of the council’s broader employment package you will also be entitled to:

  • Up to 34 days (FTE) annual leave, pro-rata’d based on your agreed contractual hours;
  • Generous pension scheme and life cover;
  • Time off for volunteering and blood donation;
  • 24/7 access to the Employee Assistance Programme.
