The Community Support Service in the Falkland Islands has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Residential Support Worker to be part of and coordinate a small team of support workers who care and support adults with special needs, this may be within their own homes or in a specially adapted residential environment.

The Community Support Team is part of the Falkland Islands Health Service, who provide care and support for vulnerable people across the community in their own homes, in sheltered accommodation and in other adapted residential environments. We are also in the process of building and developing an extra-care facility due to open in 2024.

As part of the Community Support Services ‘Vision & Values’ we strive to promote and continually develop individual person-centred care, at every stage of a person’s life, whilst enabling that person to maintain their individuality.

The Person

The successful applicant should:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience supporting people with learning disabilities or other special needs
  • Hold a level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Be in possession of GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Hold a manual driving licence
  • Have a good understanding of person-centred planning

The Package

  • Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
  • Starting Salary £22,500 - £25,941 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £27,797 with on call and unsocial hours allowances payable.
  • Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable).
  • 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays.
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.
  • Government Housing for rent and a starter pack to help you settle in.
