Executive Head of Finance

A PLACE WITH PLENTY GOING ON

As well as Farnborough’s history at the centre of British aviation, the world famous Farnborough Air Show and Aldershot’s legacy as home of the British Army, you might just be surprised by how much else we have going on at Rushmoor.

An extensive capital programme that is a platform for an ambitious regeneration strategy includes the new £50m Union Yard development in Aldershot town centre. The Civic Quarter development in Farnborough includes residential and commercial space. And the Council recently secured a £20m Levelling Up award for a new leisure and cultural hub. These initiatives stem from a political appetite for innovation and managed risk; an executive team who are committed to moving things forward at pace; and an openness to new ideas such as flexible working.

It’s an incredibly vibrant and professionally rewarding place to be

We face the same financial challenges as other local authorities and a recently completed Outcomes Based Budgeting Programme has secured almost £3m savings over the next two years alongside a balanced budget agreed with cross party support.

This is an opportunity that will suit an experienced and capable finance expert - someone who can establish trust and rapport with colleagues and with elected members through well-informed and measured professional advice. You will have the chance to shape a newly established finance team and you will also ensure that priorities and expectations are pragmatic and that sound financial planning informs decision-making while continuing to set ambitious goals. The ability to connect strategic aspirations to operational detail is essential, alongside a readiness to advise, negotiate and challenge as required.

Call Steve Guest or Amy Billington at Solace in Business on 020 7976 3311 for an informal conversation.

Closing date: 11th April
