The Post

You will help deliver the Council’s New Homes programme right from feasibility study to project handover (RIBA stages 1-7). Project management of new schemes, appointment of consultants, contractors, through to start on site and completion/handover of projects. Proactively managing risks, costs, resources and relationships

Key areas of work

  • Involve in the design, planning, procurement, on site, completion and through the defects period.
  • Monitoring and managing development risks on each project
  • Delivering projects of highest quality complying with the latest building regulations
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exemplar levels of engagement and consultations
  • Ensuring each project meets both budgetary and programme target dates and producing regular reports on the progress of each project
  • Management of consultants to deliver in line with approved fee estimate
  • Project management of mix of residential and mixed-use project usually via Development Agreement, Partnership from inception to completion

 

The Person

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager to manage the council’s New Housing Programme, including infill sites and some specific high value projects currently on sites. The role requires astute problem solving and creative thinking skills, good construction management skills. We are also looking for someone who shares our passion to drive improvement, support our values as well as delivery of best practice in the Property and Asset Management Team.

Specific Requirements

  • Degree in Building or construction, or equivalent PM qualification together with relevant experience within the construction / housing industry.
  • Experience and knowledge of legislative context of construction management in a large, diverse and complex organisation.
  • Experience of project management including supervision and management of contractors and consultants.
