Business Support Officer Apprentice (Licensing)
Contract Type: 18 months
Salary: Starting salary £17,082
Hours: 37 hours per week (includes 1 day per week study time with Eastleigh College. Note: 1 day a week working from home may be available after an initial induction period by mutual agreement.

The Council’s offices are in the heart of the Cathedral City of Winchester, the ancient capital of England and the county town of Hampshire. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Licensing Team. So if you are looking for a career which gives you the opportunity to join a dedicated local authority regulatory service that provides enables you to work within a supportive environment and assist in your career development then we’d like to hear from you.
You will be the main point of contact for our customers, providing advice on subjects ranging from matters of taxi, premises, gambling licensing, public health funerals, and in support of the wider Environmental health functions. You will also provide administrative support to the team to ensure that records are accurate and up to date. The work is broad exciting, sometimes challenging and rewarding.
Excellent communication and customer care skills are essential as is a good attention to detail. You must have an empathetic, helpful but impartial approach, together with an aptitude for problem solving. You must possess good IT skills and an understanding of the role of different Council Departments would be a benefit. Full training will be given.

Winchester City Council’s apprenticeship scheme offers a valuable alternative career path to full time college or university study, with the aim of developing well-rounded, administrators with transferable skills and valuable work experience in the public sector.
This apprenticeship scheme is a great way to gain valuable work experience while working towards a recognised qualification. Your time will be spent studying with Eastleigh College and working within the Licensing Team where you will have the opportunity to put your new skills to the test and learn about this diverse areas of our business. The council will fully support you in your learning and 20% ‘off the job’ training.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or higher including Maths and English.
