What it’s like working in our team…
This is an exciting time to join Bracknell Forest Libraries as we are rolling out Open+ technology to extend opening hours, rather like 24-hour gyms, in all 9 Libraries in the Borough. As a senior member of the team in Bracknell Library, you will be supervising both frontline staff and volunteers. You should enjoy working with a broad range of clientele of all ages and have strong IT skills. You will be assigning Home Library Service clients to volunteers, making sure that they receive regular visits and deliveries of books and audio-visual materials to suit their interests. You will also be assisting with stock management, and the goods receiving of new stock in Bracknell Library.
With excellent customer care and communication skills, you will be a strong team player, who is able to prioritise your workload. A full driving licence is essential, as you may be required to drive the library van from time to time and you must be able to move large crates of stock.
You will work an average of 37 hours per week, working one Saturday out of three, for which you will receive enhanced pay. You also have 1 hour for lunch daily.

Friday 9am to 5pm
Saturday Off

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…
- To provide a high quality service to the public, answering information enquiries in person, by telephone, and digitally, and to support customers in the use of ICT facilities.
- Supervising frontline staff and volunteers, assisting with their training and allocating tasks.
- In the absence of the Home Library Service Supervisor, to drive the delivery vehicle to residential homes, day centres, housebound individuals, and to other Bracknell Forest locations as required, according to a fixed schedule.
- Assisting with the organisation and running of activities and events for all age groups to generate library income, including the sale of goods and services as required.
- To provide support to the Stock Management Officer with the goods receipting of new stock and amending cataloguing records as required.

A confident and enthusiastic person who can demonstrate considerable experience of working at a similar level in a frontline customer service role. You will be a strong team leader who enjoys engaging with customers of all ages and you will need to be able to think creatively about how to attract new customers and to maximise income generation.
You will also show determination and resilience to achieve results.
