You will be supported to carry out the following duties & responsibilities…..

To carry out highway safety inspections having due regard to the relevant codes of practice, legislative requirements and council maintenance polices in order to ensure that the Council meets its statutory requirements in relation to highway maintenance and related public safety

Investigating and responding to enquiries from members of the public and other sources.

React quickly and decisively to urgent works required to ensure our highway is safe for all users.

What we're looking for...

Great at prioritising and self-motivated individual, who is creative, innovative, and comfortable working to deadlines. Good communication skills are vital, as are the interpersonal skills it takes to work as part of a team and liaise with a wide range of professionals.

To succeed, you’ll need experience and qualification in an appropriate discipline, knowledge of the Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and other relevant codes of practice and legislation.  Confident in your ability to apply current government policies and design standards.  You’re also adept at analysing information and contribute towards reports to help the Highway Authority respond to and defend insurance claims.
