What are the roles?

Lead (Senior) Planning Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the processing of a varied development management caseload, with an emphasis on the more complex and major applications including pre-applications and appeals.

In this role you will play a significant part in leading and being responsible for the efficient delivery of major and strategic planning applications, including those subject to a PPA. This is an excellent career development opportunity to build on existing experience and/or to gain experience of a broader scope and range of application type.

You will have an excellent knowledge base of planning processes and legislation with a proven record of negotiating successful outcomes having worked collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and meeting performance standards whilst being committed to the needs of customers. 

We therefore welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Development Management. A successful applicant would require a degree level standard of education, and be eligible for full membership of the RTPI.

Planning Officers / Trainee Planning Officers

We welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Development Management. In this role you will play a significant part in the efficient delivery of a wide range of planning application types with opportunities to progress to more complex schemes as your experience grows.

You will have a good knowledge of planning related legislation. You will be a strong team player who can contribute positively to the team and be able to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in making recommendations on a wide range of planning matters.

We also welcome candidates with no prior experience of planning that are motivated and willing to learn. The trainee role is career graded to enable progress to Planning Officer level. Applicants who wish to study to do an undergraduate or post-graduate planning degree will be provided with on-the-job training, and subject to any budgetary restrictions, be sponsored to undertake the appropriate University course or Apprenticeship scheme, including day release.
