Do you enjoy and have experience in property maintenance and repairs? We are looking for a handy person to join our team, who will be working within residential services for young people, staff office areas and other onsite buildings used by staff and young people. • Residential areas are homely

Each day is different, and you will need to plan and prioritise tasks, in connection with your line manager and the services. There is a handy person folder where staff detail any jobs required and there will be times that jobs are not listed. In these times you will need to plan general maintenance tasks such as gardening, window cleaning and jet washing. You will also be required to respond to emergencies during the day, which will require planned jobs being rescheduled. Due to the nature of the service some jobs may need to be done repetitively so you will need to be patient and have some tolerance. You will be required to use a variety of tools and power tools, which are provided.

You will need to work closely with contractors employed by the housing provider, reporting and monitoring repairs they are responsible for, ensuring all works are completed in a timely manner and  to a high standard.

The role is to ensure the buildings, fixtures and fittings and outside areas are safe and well maintained. You will be required to complete a variety of tasks, which include:

  • General carpentry tasks
  • Repairs to fixtures, fitting and furniture
  • Garden maintenance
  • Jet washing
  • Decorating
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Bicycle maintenance
  • Putting together furniture, fixing shelves and hanging pictures
  • Window cleaning
  • Salting grounds during cold weather
  • Completing H&S checks, such as tools and ladders

Experience in property maintenance and DIY is needed.  The role requires working across three sites, so driving and having a car is required.

You need to enjoy working as part of a team,

By joining our team, you will make a difference to the young people and staff by ensuring the environments are safe, well maintained, and homely.

We would support any good ideas on problem solving. We would encourage you to help a young person to put things right with repairs if they have damaged something.
